The Steeps of San Francisco

All the way from the world headquarters at Ibis Cycles, behold the “Steeps of San Francisco” ride–a grueling event devoted to bombshell coffee, insanely steep roads, and non-competitive crushing on the bike!

Scot Nicol, aka Chuck Ibis, owner/founder/dreamy visionary over at Ibis, sent me his trip report from the ride. The gang convened early in the Marina, judging by the pics. From there they tackled the city’s steepest streets, from Cow Hollow to Coit Tower to Diamond Heights to Twin Peaks, with a bit of singletrack thrown in for good measure! Grades of 35-37% were recorded. Check the pics and notice the guy descending on his road bike–he’s dropped his butt off the saddle like he’s dropping a ledge on a mountain bike.

Twenty-five miles of riding, with 5000 feet of climbing. It’s not quite a Mount Evans day, but the pastries and coffee are way better. 2011? Why not?
