Postcards from the Weekend: Pre-Season Shakedown

It was our first night under the stars since November and Curecanti National Recreation Area was the backdrop. While we were aiming for another campsite further on down the road as a pre-summer gear shakedown, we detoured, unexpectedly, by suggestion of our five year old son. For too long, this national park was a pass-through for our family. A pretty view along our route from southern Colorado to points west…until now. Now, we know it a little more intimately. We quickly decided the site was no longer a detour for our family, instead, the destination.
