Amateur filmmakers, backcountry skiers and snowboarders, and anybody leaving the gates of your fave resort, check out the “Know the Snow” contest. You could win a BCA Float Pack, two days cat-skiing in the Monashees, passes at any resort in the US, Liberty Skis, or a Never Summer splitboard.
Here’s how you’ll win it–make a short film (four minutes max) showing what you do before you head into the backcountry. Burn incense, check weather stations, chant in Tagalog, read your avy bulletin–whatever your voodoo is before your backcountry sessions, film it, edit it, make it look badass….and you could win. Check out Know the Snow for guidelines and suggestions. Videos will be promoted through Vimeo and GoPro. The five vids with the most “likes” will then be judged by an expert panel and a winner picked.
Hopefully you already have a rock-solid pre-BC routine, so filming your schtick should just add a few minutes to your day. Then hit the editing room and start planning how huge you’ll go in the Monashees. Yeah!
