International Balloon Fiesta

balloons

The International Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque is always a spectacle with lots of hot air! With over 700 hot air balloons from all over the world, the fiesta is bright and vibrant with 1000s of attendees. It first started in ABQ 1972 with just over 10 years and has been going on for 4 decades.

There is a designated Balloon Fiesta Park in Albuquerque at 78 acres – the size of 54 football fields! At an 8 bucks entry free, it’s affordable to all. The early morning is the time go to see the balloons take off. Bad traffic is something to be wary of, so people leave their house between 4 and 4:30 for the 7 AM launch. The sky is full of balloons of all shapes and colors.

Other special events include a balloon glow and a special shapes rodeo. The park is one big party with tons of food vendors, local arts and craft dealers, and live music. It is one of the most photographed events in the world.

I grew up in NM, but I hadn’t been to the Balloon Fiesta in probably 10 years. I headed to the Balloon glow. Check it out!

More info on the Balloon Fiesta can be found on the website.
