Celebrate the Beginning of Winter with Explore Fitness and SKI RMNP

Winter is coming! And Explore Fitness and the SKI RMNP crew are teaming up to celebrate the beginning of the snow season and to raise funds for SKI RMNP’s latest project. In the 1970s, mountaineer Glenn Porzak was busy working with the National Park Service to define the boundaries of Rocky Mountain National Park and the adjoining Indian Peaks Wilderness. As a result, Porzak became the first person to summit the 100 highest peaks inside of the park—a feat tackled by only a few other mountaineers. Glenn Porzak’s adventures on the remote snowy peaks that he scaled were relatively untouched, and the lure of that pure snow has inspired his son, Austin Porzak, to follow in his father’s adventurous footsteps. During the 2015/2016 season, Austin Porzak will attempt to ski the highest 50 peaks in Rocky Mountain National Park, using the same data his dad collected in the park decades ago. With photographers in tow, Porzak plans to document his mission with the goal of preserving the special relationship he shared with his dad and highlighting the importance of protecting and preserving national parks for future generations.

On Thursday, November 12 at 6 p.m., Explore Fitness and SKI RMNP raising funds for Porzak’s project and kicking off the winter season with a celebration at Jagged Mountain Craft Brewery. The event is free to the public, with an epic raffle taking place throughout the evening featuring prizes by Copper Mountain, Zeal Optics, Cirque, Bent Gate Mountaineering, Explore Fitness, and more.
