Trail Worthy Travel Apparel

A single day of adventure and exploration can take you through a swing of weather no matter where you are.  What we’ve put together is a set versatile and stylish travel apparel that can take you from the trail to the tavern without missing a beat. Tested on full days in Squamish, British Columbia, these outdoor apparel items were paired to take on the variable temperature and unexpected bursts of weather that can be found in many places, including our beloved Front Range. From the brisk mornings cooking breakfast in the campground under the shadow of the Stawamus Chief, mid-day bouldering sessions and hikes through the canopied forest beneath the Grand Wall, to the evening walk downtown grab a drink, these items kept me covered and comfortable while maintaining a casual, urban-adapted look. For the traveler that likes to look good while getting their hands dirty, this combination gets the nod of approval.

AbiskoVentShirtSSStart with the Fjallraven Abisko Vent Shirt SS to keep things regulated. The mesh gusseted underarms pair with the venting of the back yoke to keep the air flowing when activity or sunshine heat things up. While the fit is labeled as regular(from a European perspective) I found it to be more of a slim fit on a tall, slender guy like myself. Plenty long in the body to match my torso, it provided adequate vertical coverage while the mid-bicep cut of the sleeves added to the ventilated design. Made of 100% lyocell, the natural fiber is comfortable and smooth against the skin while offering a 30+ UPF rating to buffer the sun. This short sleeve button down shirt features a button down collar to compliment the two buttoned chest pockets and is offered in 3 natural colors(dark grey, green and light beige). Living on the road during that time, the wrinkle-resistant fabric made it easy to keep up appearances while still offering performance. fjallraven.us $80

NauRiftJacketWhen travel days dictate some time downtown after your day of adventuring, there’s no need to stop back at camp or the hotel room with the Rift Jacket by the eco(and fashion)-conscious folks at Nau. The industrial/moto styling is sharp, with great attention to detail and asymmetrical chest pockets, two zippered hand pockets and deep inner pockets for subtly stashing maps and wallets. Constructed of organic cotton, the synthetic wax finish sheds bursts of wind and rain without flinching. The adjustable snap hem and cuffs customize the fit, while the angled cut of the cuffs allow you to stuff your hands in pockets without it riding up or bunching much. The slim fit kept the style points high and complimentary to the Abisko Vent shirt, giving you a great travel combo that’s ready to take on a full day of exploration whether it be the downtown scene or the unpredictable outdoors. nau.com $255
