The American Alpine Club and Jones Snowboards Want to Fund Your Next Big Adventure

Do you dream of the mountains and jagged cliffs of remote climbing destinations in places like India and Pakistan? If you had the funds, would you explore Glacier National Park from the seat of a bicycle or a split board? Are you jonesing for a big, bold adventure? If the answer is yes, then you have until November 30 to enter to win financial assistance from the American Alpine Club (AAC) for your big adventure dreams.

Since 2017, the AAC’s Cutting Edge Grant has been funding big ideas, big lines and big adventures. The oldest non-profit for climbers is putting $40,000 in grant money up for grabs this year that are designed to help climbers offset the costs of remote expeditions. Together with Jones Snowboards — founded by legendary big mountain rider Jeremy Jones — the AAC will also be offering two specific grants for snowboard-specific mountain explorations for the second year in row: The Jones Backcountry Adventure Grant and the Jones Live Like Liz Award, which gets its namesake from Liz Daly, a Jones ambassador killed in a 2014 avalanche accident. Each of the Jones grants will provide $1,500 in finical assistance and gear, including a new Jones split board, skins and a backpack.

The AAC’s Cutting Edge Grant will award finical assistance in amounts ranging from $5,000 to $15,000 based on eligibility, experience, originality and objective.
