Postcards From the Weekend: Patient Pups

We’re not lost, but we’ve managed to find our way onto old game trail — marked with subtle reminders of those who have traversed it before us. Above, a sprawling rock field stands between us, and the gentle mountain’s summit. Up an unsteady climb we stumble on our quest to reach the top. I lose my breath at times, but it comes back to me during glimpses of the view that awaits us. Blue sky, impending rain clouds, whispers of wind, and tiny blades of emerging green grass all warrant a break in the mission. Sometimes my muscles ache. Sometimes loose rocks deceive me. Sometimes my feet lose the way. But my regal sidekick’s passion, drive and patience never fade.
