Postcards From the Weekend: Farm Life

It’s quiet. Unnervingly quiet for a city girl. The only sound reverberating throughout the emerging night is the slow rustle of the wind as it brushes the tops of thousands and thousands of stalks of barley that stretch on for miles into the horizon. In the distance, a bird calls out — lost in the dizzying maze of grain. Today, this field is a simple masterpiece — the perfect combination of chaos and calm. But tomorrow, its contents will begin a journey that will eventually end in a locally-made craft beer or a handcrafted glass of Colorado whiskey.

As the day turns to night, the rustling comes to a rest and silence prevails. A whole new world encased in darkness unfolds, revealing rambling clouds and a starry night that illuminates the delicate place where man and nature reside.
