Postcards from the Weekend: Earning Turns on Mt. Massive

If you look closely at the rocks on the slopes of Mt. Massive, you’ll see a snowboarder making his way down the face of Colorado’s second highest fourteener. After hauling thirty-pound packs weighed down with ski gear up almost 4,000 feet of elevation gain spread out over four miles, the phrase ‘earn your turns’ took on a new meaning. With panoramic views of the Maroon Bells, other fourteeners like Mt. Elbert, and the Upper Arkansas Valley, the summit of Mt. Massive is literally breathtaking and worth the work.
