The sustainable and functional Swedish-designed jackets come in women’s Khione or men’s Nengal styles, providing an essential layer to protect travelers from the elements on any of Wilderness Scotland and Wilderness Ireland’s new 2020 outdoor adventures, including mountain biking through the Cairngorms National Park, walking the beaches of England’s Northumberland National Park and Lake District, or hiking the National Parks of Ireland.

For the fifth time this Black Friday, REI Co-op will close all its stores, process no online payments and pay all 13,000 employees to #OptOutside with friends and family. But this year, under the leadership of a new CEO and facing a global environmental crisis, the co-op is going a step further: asking its 13,000 employees and 18 million members to join in the fight for life outdoors – and life on this planet.

The co-op is asking members and employees to “opt to act” – joining a nationwide clean-up effort this November, leaving the outdoors better than they found it when they #OptOutside on Black Friday and signing up for an employee-sourced, 52-week action plan to take small steps throughout the year to reduce their environmental footprint. Employees have already started, so far collecting more than 3.4 tons of trash in clean-up efforts around the country.

At the same time, REI is stepping up its own fight for life outdoors – starting with rethinking its core business model in favor of more mindful consumption, tackling waste and pledging to eliminate unnecessary packaging in the outdoor industry – beginning with poly bags (the clear plastic bags used to protect apparel).

In partnership with REI, United By Blue is offering a $10 cleanup kit that includes a reusable  trash bag, bandana, and gloves to get out there and help clean up.
