Gear – Wojo Wallet

At first, I was really skeptical. My wallet had lots of cards and various pieces of information I thought was important to carry around everywhere with me. Then a friend upgraded their iPhone and they gave me their case that holds a few cards in it. I transfered my drivers license, two credit cards (personal and business) and my medical ID card to the little sleeve on the back of the phone and suddenly I found myself leaving my wallet full of all this allegedly important information and cards behind and just taking my phone and these few items for my day to day activities. And it was enough. I never found myself wishing I had my big bulky wallet and who-knows-what was in there with me.

Because I often get out on adventures where getting wet in one way or another is a possibility, I wanted to get my phone back into my LifeProof case. Then I reconsidered the Wojo Wallet. Those few items that made it into the back of the other phone case easily slipped into the Wojo Wallet and I haven’t gone back since. I don’t carry cash very often, but when I end up with some it easily straps on the outside and the small package easily slips into my front pocket. Not that I live in a pick-pocket troubled neighborhood, but it is just a touch safer, especially when I end up traveling places where pick-pocketing is more likely.

The Wojo Wallet is also perfect for my backcountry adventures. I zip it into an internal pocket of some sort so it’s out of the way but at least I have some form of ID on me if I manage to get into some sort of trouble. In the past, I couldn’t be bothered to find a spot for my bigger and bulkier wallet.

Nevertheless, the simplicity of the design is such that the wallet doesn’t really absorb water so it’s no big deal if it gets wet and all these plastic cards we carry don’t really care about getting wet either. Paper money will dry.

So there it is. My little saga of something simple but rather important. Maybe you’re in a position to consider making the change as well. Choose from four colors $13; wojowallet.com
