Fashionably Fall

Fall is such a charming time of year—apple cider, falling leaves, the crisp, cool air hinting at the snowy winter that is on the horizon. I love fall for a lot of reasons, but fashion is not one of them. While some women feel feminine in their flannel shirts, leggings, and leather boots, I end up feeling like a lumberjack who just can’t seem to get it right. I spend the summer glowing in the beauty of simple dresses and flip flops only to be confronted with the day that I have to (gasp!) start wearing socks!

However, this Fall, by carefully selecting a few key pieces, even I have learned to rock booties and plaid without feeling like Paul Bunyun’s long lost sister. Not only are these items worthy of your pocketbook, but they are also comfortable and durable—a key feature of any Colorado girl’s wardrobe. So snuggle by the fire, hike through the hills, and enjoy the many perks of fall in your new duds.

WR_15445_RBLIf you haven’t yet been introduced to Woolrich’s buffalo check, you have been missing out. This print is about as iconic as it gets—coming from a company that has been making outdoor wear for over 180 years. While you might not think of Woolrich as the most fashion forward brand, their “White Collection” has a sophisticated twist on outdoor fashion—blending classic Woolrich patterns with more modern silhouettes.

Two of my favorites are the The Mill Wool Popover Hooded Poncho and the Baltimore Boots. The poncho is perfect for cabin nights by the fire and both are ideal for fall days of urban exploring. The boots are not only cute but they are also comfortable and warm—a hard combination to find with footwear these days.

Wool Skirt Lifestyle
The re-branding of Horny Toad to Toad&Co has resulted in a more contemporary and urban feel to parts of their collection. A stand out piece from their Fall line is the Diamond Sweater Skirt. This piece is great for ladies who are tired of wearing pants. The print is modern and versatile and the 100% boiled wool fabric keeps you warm and stylish.

Smartwool Sweater
Smart Wool’s Hesperus Full Zip Sweater is a great option for days when you want wrap yourself in a grandpa cardi. The shawl collar and hidden zipper seal in warmth, making this sweater a staple for any fashionable adventuress.

United By Blue’s Murray Plaid Dress feels like a nightgown but looks like a dress. With a sophisticated approach to seasonal plaid, this classic shirt dress is flattering on a variety of figures and can be worn with or without the belt.

IBEXA classic stripe goes a long way when it comes to fashion and finding this stripe in an undershirt is even better. Undershirts are an absolute staple in the colder weather months. The Ibex Woolies 1 Crew is a piece than can be work under a dress, sweater, or jacket as well as on the slopes. Ibex’s soft merino wool means you don’t have to sacrifice comfort for warmth and the subtle stripe is ideal when mixing prints.
