On Wednesday, June 22, Bike To Work Day returns with more than 250 stations set up in the Denver/Boulder area—69 in the city of Boulder alone. Throughout the day, local businesses and organizations will be giving out breakfast from 6:30 am until 9 am, water stations will be operating from 3:30 to 6 pm, and bike parties will be going on all through the evening. You could score a free bagel from Moe’s, win prizes on CU’s East Campus, and gobble down bacon at Moosejaw Mountaineering, all before you’ve sent your first email.
On your way home, be sure to check out Heifer and Hen for ice cream, popsicles, and other goodies. Upslope Brewing Co. will be having a happy hour for bicyclists, with the first fifty people to arrive getting a free pint glass filled with beer. There will also be bike parties at Standard Bike Repair and Crestview Church in Boulder.
Last year on Bike to Work Day 17,219 vehicles were swapped out for bicycles, and participants biked a total of more than 600,000 miles. The popular events has grown so much that the month of June is now Bike and Walk month in Boulder. In June, the city offers more than 60 events, from trail rides to bike clinics to social walks. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or just dusting off your old commuter bike, Bike and Walk month has an event for you. Plus, there are tons of awesome giveaways up for grabs for participants.
