Guides on Parade

For the first time in history, the International Federation of Mountain Guides (IFMGA) is holding a conference in North America. The norm  in Europe, IFMGA certification is slowly coming to North America, where there is no legal standard to be a mountain guide. The city of Boulder and the American Mountain Guides Association will host IFMGA’s executive board and delegates from 26 countries on November 12-16th. “It’s a great honor to host the world’s most famous and skilled mountain guides,” says Betsy Novak, AMGA’s executive director. “An absolute wealth of experience and knowledge will be coming to the Front Range.” Don’t miss the Pearl Street parade on November 14th, when visiting guides will march through town in traditional costume.
