Instead of the SuperBowl…How ‘Bout a Beacon Bowl?!

This is not A-Basin, nor are these men participating in the Beacon Bowl…but I liked the shot anyway.

If watching ‘roid-crazed goons and enduring cheese curd-bloated Midwesterners isn’t your thing this Sunday, then why not head to the Basin and enter the Beacon Bowl? Take advantage of Backcountry Access’s beacon park and compete with others in the 9th-annual beacon competition and get-together. I’ll paste info below from the Arapahoe Basin website, but click through if you need additional details.

The proceeds from the event benefit the Colorado Avalanche Information Center, and I’m sure you all joined this year–right?! There’s a raffle, silent auction, and plenty of vendors hawking their stuff. You can try out beacons and get advice on the latest-greatest search techniques, too.

If football’s not your thing, then head up to the Basin and refine your rescue skills. Hopefully you’ll never need ’em and you may as well enjoy some beer and pizza while you practice…enjoy!
