Avalanche POV in Tignes, France

Avalanche Tignes 28/02/2015 from Benjamin Styles on Vimeo.

Benjamin Styles tells of his experience shown here in his avalanche POV:

“Skiing a line on the skiers right of Tuf de la Toviere (Mickeys Ears), after dropping in the couloir narrows, before it narrowed I managed to set of an avalanche, small, but as it funnelled into the narrowing it flushed me straight down to the bottom of the face. As it entered the rest of the face it fractured more and picked up more snow and speed, I went over some rocks, lost my poles and came away with a sore elbow and stiff back, quite a lucky escape, I tumbled about 250 meters before coming to a stop on top of the snow.”

We’re glad to see Benjamin came out ok, but it shows an avalanche can trigger at any time. Be safe out there.
