We won’t let the conversation around inclusivity stop. Supporting opportunities for everyone to experience the outdoors is something the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Center has spent years on. Buying a mountain bike, renting a kayak, or booking a raft trip is no small financial feat and is out of reach for a good share of the population. RMOC - @rocky_mountain_outdoor_center - knows this and has created structures and partnerships to help combat this problem. In our latest story “In the Outdoors, All Are Welcome”, RMOC owner, Brandon Slate, shares that their “courses have always been open to everyone and will continue to be open to everyone. We also strive to hire staff and guides who are welcoming to everyone regardless of age, size, disability, and cultural and sexual identity. It’s something we’re very proud of.”

“May your rivers flow without end, meandering through pastoral valleys…down again into a deep vast ancient unknown chasm where bars of sunlight blaze on profiled cliffs...where something strange and more beautiful and more full of wonder than your deepest dreams waits for you-beyond that next turning of the canyon walls” - Edward Abbey
There’s still time to chase the river runner stoke! Whether you’re looking for a longer lazy meander, a heart-thumping adventure, or a fishing-focused trip, we’ve got some classic river trip suggestions for you! Hit up our Summer 2022 issue for all the details!

“This ground gives me resilience, a way to rebound and push through...[it] teaches me creativity”, shares Dani Reyes-Acosta, an athlete and storyteller redefining who plays outside and how we build community with others on this planet. Read her full story “Beneath My Feet” on our website.

**GEAR OF THE WEEK**
Weighing only 79 grams, the @petzl_official IKO CORE features a patented AIRFIT headband that requires very little compression for a stable fit. Made of hydrophobic and semi-rigid materials the AIRFIT headband doesn’t absorb rain or sweat and is easily adaptable right out of the box into a freestanding lantern and is collapsible for storage. This 500 lumen headlamp is optimally balanced because of the rear-mounted battery pack and doesn’t require a bulky pig-tail cable. Sold with the Petzl CORE rechargeable battery, the IKO CORE is designed around the HYBRID CONCEPT that allows standard AAA batteries to be used without an adapter.

Words are one thing, actions are another. “Creating a shared culture of picking up trash, leaving campsites cleaner than we found them, being prepared and courteous, not cutting across switchbacks—that all comes from doing it in front of your kids (and in front of students, friends, and strangers).” Read more on leading by example in our summer issue.
