Introducing the Umbrella Bar at Crested Butte Mountain Resort

Crested Butte Mountain Resort is excited to announce the opening of an umbrella bar installation on the mountain for the upcoming 2015-2016 Winter season. Not only will the bar and expansive deck area address on mountain renovation and dining options, but it could be the most scenic hangout in all of Colorado’s resorts.

The Plan
Located in the Ten Peaks area of Crested Butte Mountain Resort, the umbrella bar is set to be the new gathering place for visitors and locals alike on the mountain. Designed with breathtaking panoramas in mind, the bar features glass walls along with a 35 foot retractable roof. While seating inside the bar area will accommodate 75 people, a 2,400 square foot deck will offer a significant amount of outdoor space to soak up the sunshine and views, as well as join new food cabins and renovated restrooms to the main bar area. The bar plans to offer six beers on tap, as well as featuring Gluehwein, a mulled Austrian wine, as a tribute to the Austrian made umbrella roof installation. Along with a full service bar and plenty of deck space, a fully functioning kitchen will be put in and offer new culinary options in place of the pre-made food that was delivered and served there previously. Food cabins will offer fish tacos, grilled panini sandwiches, and gourmet sausages as a new on mountain food option. Not only can winter sports lovers take advantage of the new mountaintop deck, but the space will be available to rent as a venue year round.

The Inspiration
After years of discussion in regards to potential upgrades to the Ten Peaks area at mid mountain, the team at CBMR came across the umbrella bar concept by chance, and was attracted to the idea because it created a new draw for a beloved area of the mountain. True to Crested Butte’s brand, the project planners wanted to advertise the undeveloped views that Crested Butte is known for, and put an emphasis on keeping things simple, while also answering the need for renovations to the space with a unique concept. By focusing on the spectacular views of the surrounding peaks, East River Valley, and the town, the project will complement the natural attributes of Crested Butte, along with providing great food options and a spectacular place to lounge.
