The New SPY Frazier

The new Frazier from SPY offers outdoor junkies a great trail-to-cafe option with its new Happy Lens technology — alleged to improve your mood if the endorphins from your last mountain bike ride weren’t enough.

The company says this patented lens technology is the only one of its kind specifically designed to foster a positive uplift in mood and alertness. The color and contrast enhancing Happy Lens technology “allows in the long-wave blue light, while filtering out the other spectrums of light associated with cataracts and macular degeneration.”

The “good rays” coming from long-wave blue light are known to promote the production of serotonin in the brain, which has a positive bearing on the body’s circadian rhythm and in essence, can help people feel good. According to the brand, research indicates that exposure through the eyes to these “good rays” brings about a number of positive physiological changes, including elevated mood and increased alertness. Similar technology is used by lighting manufacturers in products designed to help with Seasonal Affective Disorder. SPY is the only eyewear brand to have access to the technology used in the Happy Lens.

This video provides a quick outline of the technology behind the Happy Lens.

Design Characteristics:

The Frazier’s frame is constructed from ultra-resilient Grilamid and incorporates pin hinges that add to its durability. The mellow, wrap-style frame houses distortion-free 8×4-base Toric lenses that provide full protection from the elements. Hytrel rubber nose pads and temple tips ensure a comfortable, non-slip grip.

All of SPY’s polarized Frazier models utilize SPY’s Trident Polarized technology, “which blocks more than 99 percent of the sun’s glare and features their Accurate Radius Curvature (ARC) design to prevent the scratching, delaminating and hazing of the polarized filter.”

In addition to being available in the Realtree brand camouflage pattern and the subtle Realtree Decoy camouflage pattern, the Frazier also comes in matte black, gloss black and matte camo tort.
