[GEAR] Ski/Snowboard Car Rack

Located right here in Boulder, Rocky Mounts gets your skis and boards up to the mountains for a great day on the snow. The LiftOp rooftop rack series, available in small (16″ – 3 pairs of fat skis or 2 snowboards), medium (24″ – 4 pairs of fat skis or 4 snowboards) and large (32″ – 6 pairs of fat skis or 4) snowboards, literally fits any kind of car rack system and installation is as easy as it gets. As long as you have a vehicle with cross bars, you can mount the LiftOp and make more room inside your vehicle for people and other gear.

Everything you need is included in the box from spacers to the hex-key (allan wrench). In my case with an old 4-Runner with oval cross bars, I needed to use their clever cable mount, also included. It took me about 10 minutes to get the LiftOp mounted from the box and ready to roll. If you’re picking them up here in Boulder at the Rocky Mounts shop, they’ll install them for you. I opted to mount mine to open on the passenger side so if by chance I’m loading or unloading while parked along side a road, I’m not in the street – just putting that out there. All the LiftOps come with a built in lock to secure your gear and mounts.

The ‘gums’ of the LiftOp jaws, if you will, are designed to handle cargo up to 2.75″ thick, which is plenty for most sets of skis and a set of snowboards. With that standard load, it doesn’t take much effort to clamp down the jaws on your gear and a reassuring click guarantees you’re secure. I like to lock mine while I drive for that extra piece of mind.

The below video shows the Euro style cross bar mount process, but like I said, their cable mount system is brilliant for any other type of cross bar. S $140; M $160; L $190 | rockymounts.com
