Haven’t made it to Moab yet, but I just got back from Fruita and um, it pretty much kicks ass.

I love both Moab and Fruita, but gotta say my fave is Winter Park, Colorado! 600+ miles of single-track mountain bike trails! It’s called Mountain Bike Capital USA, after all.

I agree with Beth. I live in Winter Park, Colorado and you’ll have a hard time finding any place on earth with better mountain biking. Trestle Bike Park at Winter Park Resort is awesome! SolVista just down the road from Winter Park Resort has great downhill mountain biking too. If you’re more into cross country mountain biking, there are actually way more than 600 miles of single-track trails in the valley… you just have to find a local that will show you where all the “locals” trails are that aren’t on any of the trail maps. Locals are building new trails in the valley every summer. Another benefit of biking in Winter Park is that it’s way cooler than Fruita or Moab. Summer in Fruita and Moab is unbearably hot. For your next mountain bike vacation skip Fruita and Moab and head to Winter Park, Mountain Bike Capital USA!

The Arkansas River Valley from Leadville to Salida including the Monarch Crest trail can’t be touched. Great biking 10 months of the year ranging from fast desert technical single track to high alpine singletrack above treeline. Buena Vista is at the center of it all; park at the Eddyline pub on the South Main square and take off for hundreds of miles of trail, surf the longest river park in the state, and finish with cold brews and awesome wood-fired food! The Crest trail is best during the week as weekends get busy and Salida has great riding right from their river park. Grab your bike, boat, and have a wickedly great time!

ick utah? great for when there’s still snow on the CO trails but you can only have one drink each on the table? Retarded!! How do you know it’s spring in Utah? All the license plates turn green. Then we bail back up to the mountains for better trails and two-fisted drinking.

Have fun sweating b*lls.

Trestle DH Bike Park at Winter Park! For pre-season riding, Moab and Fruita are nice, but for the meat of the season, the trail conditions, features, lift-access, and inter-connected network in Winter Park beats them, hands down.

While I do love the two “classics” talked about in this poll, I just can’t help but feel that the Winter Park/Fraser Valley has the best and most extensive riding network in the lower 48. Winter Park and the Trestle Bike Park have invested unprecedented amounts of money into building and maintaining a trail network that truly offers something for everyone. That alone is a reason to spend your time there! Add in the seemingly endless cross country terrain spread throughout the valley, the dirt jump park that the Fraser Rec. district funds, and Sol Vista’s bike park just down the road and it’s no wonder events like the National Championships, Crankworx Colorado and the Mountain States Cup all make an appearences in the valley. Moab and Fruita have some amazing cross country riding but today’s mountain bike world is larger than just cross country trail riding. The Winter Park/Fraser Valley simply has it all.

I like mountain biking in the Winter Park/Fraser Valley, Co. They have over 600 miles of trails in beautiful meadows to forest single track and I don’t have to drive far. Moab is fun, but it gets so flippin’ hot. I also found that WP has great camping and a killer downhill at Winter Park Resort and especially at SolVista.
